Mission: Access Living is a non-residential, non-profit center for independent living which advocates on behalf of and provides services to anyone with any kind of disability. Staffed by a majority of people with disabilities, we have been helping people reach their goals of independence since 1980. Access Living deals with issues of housing; health care reform and personal assistance; youth; civil rights; and empowerment zones. We work toward the full inclusion, empowerment and equality of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. Access Living's efforts focus on:

Mission: Committed to the concept that people are our most precious resource, the Allison United Foundation for Better Living was organized to address the physical, social, financial and spiritual needs of individuals with in the community at large. Our main mission is to make sure that no child or family go hungry, or go without a place to sleep.

Although we are small organization, we do coordinate our activities with a variety of other governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Services: The Allison United Foundation offers a variety of programs, dealing with

  • Transportation to and from work
  • Bank teller training
  • Adult reading programs
  • G.E.D (high school equivalency diploma)
  • Food pantry

Mission:  To provide the resources necessary to make Austin residents self-sufficient in housing, health, and employment.

Services:

  • WIC (Women, Infant, and Children) food aid. WIC food store on the premises.
  • Nutrition program
  • Housing program to help residents find affordable housing
  • "Second Seed" housing program, designed to help people coming from a shelter find permanent housing
  • Substance abuse referral service (referring clients to other substance abuse services)
  • Job training
  • GED (high school equivalency exam) course

Mission: At Mother to Mother, we have networked with diverse organizations, school, hospitals, treatment facilities, Daycare centers, and the Tenth & Eleventh district police departments in order to provide visionary and comprehensive resources as well as a transitional living program for our clients. Our program is designed and tailored to fit all women regardless of creed, race, or circumstance. We understand the needs of all women, and will not discriminate.

Mother-to-Mother also assist with women's mental health issues with trained and licensed personnel. We also do home and hospital visits to our clients, while providing transportation to and from appointments. Mother-to-Mother specializes in women who have DCFS cases, and will provide a court advocate to assist our clients during court proceedings.

We provide services for women with or without children as well as providing childcare in our living facilities.
